We caught up with Nathan to find out more about his Equity Crowdfunding Masterclass.

What led you to equity crowdfunding?

During my days as an investment banker, the most enjoyable clients to work with were, by far, the early-stage companies going through initial public offerings. Back then, what I loved about early-stage companies was the exposure to entrepreneurs with big dreams and ambitions, and the passion and positivity to turn them into reality. Equity crowdfunding has many strong parallels with early-stage initial public offerings, so when I got the entrepreneurial itch myself, and saw the emergence of equity crowdfunding, it was the perfect fit.

What is The Equity Crowdfunding Masterclass?

It’s a step-by-step system for equity crowdfunding success. It features over 40 video lessons across 7 modules, together with templates, checklists, and interviews with dozens of real successful campaigns. It grew out of a desire to provide company founders with the tools and advice required to succeed in equity fundraising. In the course of researching it, I travelled extensively to meet with the leaders in equity crowdfunding, and speak to the campaigns who have achieved success with this exciting new development in early-stage finance.

Who’s it for?

The course is sutied to founders of companies incorpoated in the UK, EU, US, Canada, Austrialia or New Zealand who are looking to raise $50,000+ (or foreign equivalent) and can justify a pre-money valuation of at least $250,000 (or foreign equivalent). The company should have some traction – whether in terms of revenue, users, patents, etc. and should understand why they need to raise capital, with a plan for how they intend to use it.

What do you think makes a successful equity crowdfunding campaign?

First and foremost, it is to have a great business which is worthy of funding. Investors will flock to a company which is solving a real problem intelligently. Secondly, it is being willing to build community. The most successful businesses co-create along with their customers, leading to more engagement and better products too! The specific tactics to build that community depend on the business in question, but all successful equity crowdfunding campaigns make this a huge priority before launching.
